Cory Morrow
Cory Morrow's humble artistic beginnings read like the gritty lyric of an unwritten Townes Van Zandt song.

Auslander Biergarten - Fredericksburg, TX
Auslander is the German word for outsider, foreigner, or tourist. The Auslander has been an authentic Fredericksburg landmark for over two decades.
Week of January 24, 2010
Hello everyone!

Well, once again we had another amazing week! Cory Morrow played a great show, and the Auslander is an awesome venue. Fredericksburg is in the heart of the Texas Hill Country and was founded in the mid 1800's by German settlers. The town has a pretty neat history and is full of great restaurants.

This week was a little different than the previous ones because we were missing a member of our crew. Brother Josh, the show's producer, was not able to make it due to a case of "bad clams" (you can take from that what you wish). Anyhow, we had to make do without him. This meant that Cory our Angry Sound Guy had to drive. This can be a good and bad thing; Cory does not take any precautions when behind the wheel which means we were averaging between 90 and 100mph the whole way, while barely dodging a deer. But on the positive side, we did make it there in a very timely fashion.

When we got to Fredericksburg we stopped in at the Fredericksburg Brewing Co. My dad and I used to visit there quite frequently when we went on hunting trips, and it has always been one of my favorite restaurants. They are famous for their freshly brewed beer. The angry sound guy and my fiance' were hungry and we had a couple hours to spare before meeting with Jeff Jeffers (The manager of the Auslander), so we decided to have a couple beers and bratwurst.

After maybe one too many beers we decided to go on a search for an iphone charger. We traveled to 4 or 5 different stores before we were finally able to find one. Once we were successful in our search we headed to the Hampton Inn and Suites to check in, which turned out to be a great choice. The Angry Sound Guy thoroughly enjoyed the complementary cookies, and we do our best to keep him as happy as possible at all times.

We headed to the Auslander once we were done checking in to the hotel. When we got there we met with Jeff Jeffers. Now, Jeff Jeffers is a man who wears many different hats. He doubles as the Auslander's manager and sound guy; he also plans to run for the 2010 Gillespie County judge. We wish you luck J.J.!

After interviewing Jeff I sat down with Cory Morrow. This was a huge thing for me because I have been a fan for over a decade! I have a lot of respect for him because he kind of started this whole Texas Country/Red Dirt music movement, and after all these years he has stayed true to his unique sound and style (unlike some other people.)

My interview with Cory went great, it was fun getting to pick his brain a little bit (don't miss this interview!). I was pretty nervous about interviewing him, but as soon as we started talking it was easy to see what a laidback and nice guy he is. Cory and I talked up until it was time for the opening act to go on. The guy who opened up for Cory was good, his name is David Fenley and he's full of jokes. He kept the audience laughing, and my fiance' really liked his music. When it was time for Cory to come on the crowd was fired up. It was an acoustic show and he had Pat Green's fiddle player Brendan Anthony with him. The show was awesome and I can't wait to go back to the Auslander (located at 323 E. Main St in Fredericksburg). It's such a cool place to see a live show and the large selection of different beers only adds to the fun. We had a great time on this trip, despite the fact that our producer was unable to be there. I'm really looking forward to next week; everyone is in good health and ready to go, so get excited for Brandon Ryder!

Till next time,

TMR
